I was born and raised in Massachusetts and migrated to New Hampshire in the 1970s, eventually moving to Maine in 1981. During my time in New Hampshire, I enjoyably lived in two communes. However, they were unplanned communities whereas cohousing is an intentional community. It is the combination of social and community interactions that best fits my needs now.

My wife, Jean Farrington, and I spent six years building our own house on 35 acres in Jackson, Maine and we lived there for twenty-four years before she died in 2004. I still live in it today. I have two cats and no kids. When I am not enjoying the outdoors, I teach RAH (Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning and Heating) at Western Maine Community College in Bangor. I also have an intense interest in community activities and yoga. In Jackson, I have been a volunteer with the Fire Department and the local Planning and Re-cycling Boards.

I began attending many organizing and informational meetings with the Belfast Area Cohousing in the Fall of 2007 and became an equity member in July of 2008. I am now involved in the Process and Steering Committees as well as a frequent facilitator for meetings.

I am happy to lend my experience to the Belfast Cohousing Community as a resource in alternative and conventional energy systems and look forward to making our community as energy efficient as possible (for which my two cats will thank me).
